In late 1993 the Verve were supported by the then up-and-coming Mancunian band, Oasis, on a short British tour. The bands bonded immediately and the atmosphere was buoyant, even when things didn’t go quite to plan. After a power-cut in Glasgow in December, Richard, Nick and Noel Gallagher performed an impromptu a cappella version of She’ll Be Coming Round the Mountain, with Bonehead on spoons.
No way! I knew the Gallaghers and Richard Ashcroft were really good friends, but I had no idea that Oasis supported The Verve, that’s mental!
